In that game, the source was a radio tower erected by Murkoff that was broadcasting mind-altering sound waves that were driving the people of the local town insane. It's the exact same beacon of light and horn that we heard frequently throughout the story of Outlast 2. As they flee, they suddenly fall into a dream, sinking beneath an endless sea while a loud fog horn echoes across the water and a bright white light fills their vision. After reading the words, our player then finally makes their escape, leaving the manor before being confronted by Mother Gooseberry. The words Murkoff are referring to are displayed on the screen: Spider, Eye, Lamb. It appears this is all to service Murkoff and its shadowy goals.ĭuring the trial, our character enters a theatre where they're instructed to: "See the words. He claims that we're leaving a different person, providing us with a set of new personal and private records that will offer us a fresh identity. From the moment the Farewell Mansion mission begins, our constant narrator, Doctor Easterman, talks of our "rebirth".
